The Telegraph reports that the Government was informed by  Carillion’s accountants in December 2017 about a plan to break up the company, selling the profitable parts and putting the rest into liquidation.  It is believed this would have generated more than £360 million, £218 million of which could have be put into the company’s pension schemes.

It is understood that the Cabinet Office did not consider it appropriate to advise the construction giant on business decisions. Read more…..



Mary Taylor

Mary began working in insolvency for a national accountancy practice in Glasgow thirty years ago and worked in most divisions of the insolvency department.

She then moved to a smaller firm so she could advance her knowledge on a more hands on basis. She moved back to Leeds in 1987 and commenced working with a small firm of accountants and subsequently made partner.
